Suspect charged in fatal shooting

A Meridian man is facing jail time after a shooting Friday left one person dead, according to Meridian Police Department.
Acting Capt. Dareall Thompson said Corey Control Collins is charged with murder in the death of Brandon Williams and additional charges are expected later on.
Officers responded to a call about a man being shot in the 1600 block of 25th Avenue at approximately 7 a.m. Friday where they found the victim, Thompson said. Williams died at the scene.
An investigation identified Collins as a suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
“He was taken into custody later that evening around 5 p.m.,” Thompson said.
MPD’s investigation into the shooting is ongoing, he said.
