Mississippi Association of Educators welcomes new executive director

The Mississippi Association of Educators announced Saturday the appointment of Erica Webber Jones as its new executive director. With a distinguished career in education and advocacy, Jones brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to advancing public education and supporting educators across the state of Mississippi.
“We are thrilled to welcome Erica Webber Jones to the Mississippi Association of Educators,” said MAE Interim President Darein Spann, “Her leadership, vision, and dedication to public education will be instrumental in guiding our organization forward as we continue to advocate for fully funded schools, equitable opportunities for all students and the support our educators need to thrive.”
As a seasoned leader and advocate, Jones has spent over 25 years championing the needs of students, educators and communities. Prior to joining MAE as the executive director, she served as state president for MAE, making a lasting impact on educational policy and practice.
“I am honored to serve as the executive director of the Mississippi Association of Educators,” said Jones. “I look forward to working alongside our incredible educators, staff and community partners to ensure every student in Mississippi has access to a high-quality education and that our educators have the resources and support they need to succeed.”
In her new role, Jones will lead MAE’s efforts to advocate for public education, provide professional development opportunities for educators and strengthen partnerships that benefit students and schools across the state.
