Meridian City Councilman Dwayne Davis on Monday announced he will seek another term representing residents of Ward 2.
“Representing the residents of Ward 2 has been a great honor,” said Davis. “I take pride in the progress we’ve achieved together during my time in office, but there’s still more work ahead. I’m running for reelection to keep our community’s voice powerful and to ensure we continue advancing together.”
Davis first took office in June 2020 in a special election and was elected to a full 4-year term in 2021. A local businessman, he has been a vocal advocate for increased government transparency, fiscal responsibility and safety during his time on the council.
With his campaign, Davis said he plans to focus on engaging with the community, being accessible and working together to find lasting solutions.
“Meridian is an incredible place to live, work, and raise a family,” he said. “I believe in our community’s potential, and with your support, I will continue to advocate for our shared values and vision for the future.”
Candidates have until 5 p.m. Jan. 31 to qualify to run in this year’s municipal elections, which include all of Meridian’s five city council seats and mayor, as well as Marion mayor and five aldermen.
Primary elections are set for April 1, with a runoff date of April 22 if needed. The general election will be held June 3.
