Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department’s Bolie Stokes and Faith Stokes Eakes of Porterville, opened the 2025 legislative session last week by performing the National Anthem at the state Capitol in Jackson.

 

Rep. Billy Adam Calvert, who represents House District 83 which includes Lauderdale County, thanked the two singers for sharing their talent with legislators.

 

“Your performance was both inspiring and a powerful reminder of the values that unite us as Americans,” he said. “We are truly grateful for your talent and for setting the tone for the important work ahead. Thank you for sharing your gift with us!”
