More than 200 fire chiefs and fire vendors from across the state will gather in Meridian this week for a two-day conference.

The Meridian Fire Department is hosting the Mississippi Fire Chiefs Association’s Mid-Winter Conference, a first for the local fire department, MFD Chief Michael Evans said. The conference will be held Wednesday and Thursday at the MSU Riley Center.

“We’re excited to have this opportunity to provide a venue where firefighters from all over Mississippi can network and discuss their legislative agendas and other issues, as well as to show them what Meridian has to offer,” Evans said.

More than 100 state fire chiefs will be in attendance. Vendors will be set up throughout the Riley Center, where fire and rescue professionals can network and view the latest products, technologies, and services. This includes exhibits of fire and EMS apparatus, tools, apparel, and technology.

A fleet of new fire trucks will be displayed on Fifth Street in front of the MSU Riley Center all day Wednesday and half of Thursday. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes while the area is closed.
