The Salvation Army encourages residents to support local communities

As 2024 comes to a close, The Salvation Army is encouraging individuals and businesses to consider year-end giving to help meet the growing needs in their communities. Support received during this time allows The Salvation Army to continue its work into the new year, providing food, shelter and assistance to individuals and families facing hardship.
“The end of the year is a time of reflection, gratitude, and generosity,” said Lt. Roy Fisher, commanding officer of The Salvation Army of Meridian. “For many, the holidays are joyful, but for others, they bring significant challenges. Year-end giving makes a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors, ensuring they receive the support and resources needed not just during the holidays, but throughout the entire year.”
Donations made before Dec. 31 are tax-deductible for the current year and go directly to helping individuals and families in need within the local community. Whether it’s providing a warm bed for someone experiencing homelessness, groceries for a family struggling to make ends meet, or resources to help individuals break the cycle of poverty, every gift has an impact.
Those interested in supporting The Salvation Army can make a donation online at meridianemptystocking.org, mail a check to The Salvation Army of Meridian, 1115 25th Ave, Meridian, MS 39301, or call 601-483-6156.
“We want to thank everyone who gave during the holiday season,” said Fisher. “We look forward to continuing to minister and do good this next year.”
