That is, until a cold front moves in later in the day, bringing some light showers with it.

Early on New Year’s Day expect a stark difference from the weather on New Year’s Eve.

The average temperature for New Year’s Day ranges from the higher 40s to lower 50s with little to no chance of rain.

It’ll be cloudy in the morning, but expect the clouds to clear by the afternoon.

“New Year’s Day is going to be mostly sunny and cool,” said Mike Edmonston, lead forecaster for the National Weather Service in Jackson, Mississippi.
