With just days left before Christmas, The Salvation Army is seeking community support to reach its Red Kettle Campaign goal for 2024. As the organization’s primary annual fundraiser, the Red Kettle Campaign supports programs that assist resdients year-round. Currently, donations are behind the goal of $75,000.

“This year has been especially tough for many individuals and families in our community,” said Lt. Roy Fisher of The Salvation Army. “With challenges like food, gas, and utilities, we continue to see an increased need for our services. As we approach the final stretch of the season, we are hopeful the community will rally behind us to ensure we can continue offering vital assistance to those in need.”

The Salvation Army bells will continue to ring outside stores through Christmas Eve, and the organization remains optimistic that with the community’s help, the campaign will reach its goal. “

Our community’s generosity is truly inspiring,” Fisher said. “Every dollar donated stays right here in our area.”

Volunteers are a cornerstone of the Red Kettle Campaign’s success, and there is still time for members of the community to join the effort as bell ringers. Residents can call 601-483-6158 to learn more about volunteer opportunities and how to sign up.

“If you can’t join us in person to ring a bell, you can still help from home by donating to our virtual kettle,”Fisher said. “Simply visit meridianemptystocking.org and select ‘Give to Our Virtual Kettle’ to support our mission right here in our community.”
