The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department invites everyone to join in supporting a good cause as it hosts its second annual Holiday Food Drive For Hunger.

The drive, which is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, will collect nonperishable food and monetary donations to support Wesley House, a nonprofit organization helping those in need in Meridian and the East Mississippi region.

To donate, residents will drive up to the flag pole in front of the Lauderdale County Government Center where a sheriff’s deputy will be waiting to take their donation.

Those who donate will receive a cup of hot chocolate and a bag of baked goods in return.

Saturday’s event will be the second time for the department’s annual drive and first at the flag pole. Last year’s inaugural event was relocated to the sheriff’s department sally port due to rain.

The Lauderdale County Government Center is located at 612 22nd Ave. S., in Meridian.
