Residents traveling along First Avenue East will need to keep an eye out for workers as Meridian & Bigbee Railroad/Canadian Pacing Kansas City Railroad plans a temporary road closure to work on a railroad crossing, the city of Meridian announced Tuesday.
Both north and south bound directions on First Avenue East, between Georgia Pacific Way and 22nd Avenue Heights will be closed for repair work starting 6 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, until 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20. Railroad infrastructure work will take place adjacent to First Ave East in the area, which may impact traffic flow, railroad authorities said.
Access Georgia Pacific Way just north of the railroad crossing will remain, but no traffic will be allowed across the railroad crossing.
City officials are advising residents delays may occur through the area during the two-day closure. Alternate routes are recommended during this time.
