Sheriff’s Department announces sobriety checkpoints

Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department will man sobriety checkpoints throughout the county to keep impaired drivers off the roads as residents celebrate the end of the year.
The department is required to announce the time and date of checkpoints when identifying intoxicated or otherwise impaired drivers is the main reason. For other checkpoints, where deputies are looking for seat belt use, working lights and other safety related issues, no advance notice is required.
Checkpoints are scheduled for:
— 7 p.m. Dec. 13, Mt. Carmel Rd. and Cook Rd.
— 8 p.m. Dec 14, at Suqualena Rd. and Suqualena Meehan Rd.
— 9 p.m. Dec. 15, at Chapel Rd. and Ponta Hills Rd.
— 10 p.m. Dec 16, at Bowlen Longcreek Rd. and Sandflat Rd.
— 11 p.m. Dec 17, at Jeff Davis Rd. at Southeast Middle School
— 7:30 p.m. Dec 18, at Old 8th St. Rd. and 70th Pl.
— 8:30 p.m. Dec. 19, at Highway 80 W. and Pigford Lake Rd.
— 9:30 p.m. Dec. 20, at Russell Mt. Gilead Rd. and Dees Rd.
— 10:30 p.m. Dec. 21, at Vimville Causeyville Rd. and Leo McDonald Rd.
— 11:30 p.m. Dec. 22, at Zero Rd. at Longcreek Fire Dept.
— 7 p.m. Dec. 23, at Collinsville Rd. and Roy Dollar Rd.
— 1 a.m. Dec. 27, at Northeast Industrial Park Rd. and Fairground Rd.
