Local colleges announce commencement schedules

As the fall semester winds down, colleges and universities are announcing commencement plans for students planning to graduate.

Mississippi State University will hold two commencement ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Dec. 13, in Starkville and one ceremony at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, for graduates at MSU-Meridian.

 

According to the university, Meridian graduates will be assigned six tickets for guests to attend the ceremony set to be held at the MSU Riley Center. This year’s graduation will include, for the first time, graduates of the Meridian campus’ doctoral programs, with three students set to receive their degrees.

 

Doors for MSU-Meridian’s graduation ceremony will open at 10 a.m., and only guests with assigned tickets will be allowed in the theater. Parking for graduates and guests is available for free in the Arts District Parking Garage, located at 712 24th Ave.

Meridian Community College

 

MCC students will graduate in fall commencement exercises set for Friday, Dec. 13, at Evangel Temple. A pinning ceremony for graduates of the Practical Nursing program will begin at 9 a.m. with pinning for Associate Degree Nursing at 11 a.m.

 

The 2024 fall commencement ceremony is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., with a total of 174 students set to graduate.

 

In a news release, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Cedric S. Gathings said he is excited to celebrate students’ achievements.

 

“Our students have demonstrated extraordinary perseverance, and we are proud to honor their incredible accomplishments in this ceremony,” he said.

 

 

 

East Mississippi Community College

 

EMCC will hold several graduation ceremonies spread across its campuses next week. Graduates of the Practical Nursing program at the Scooba campus will take part in a ceremony beginning 10 a.m. Dec. 11.

 

Surgical Technology program graduates will follow at 11 am. Dec. 12, and the Communiversity. Following the Surgical Technology graduates, approximately 40 students in EMCC’s adult education program will graduate in Lyceum Auditorium at the college’s Golden Triangle campus at 2 p.m.

 

Beginning at 10 a.m. Dec. 13, in Scooba, a commencement ceremony for students enrolled in both academic at career technical programs at EMCC’s Scooba and Golden Triangle campuses, Communiversity and Lion Hills Center. Approximately 325 students are expected to take part in the graduation.

 

East Central Community College

 

Students eligible to graduate from East Central will participate in commencement exercises set for 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12.
