Letter to the Editor: We have much to be thankful for

So, beginning Jan. 20, 2025 it will be President Trump. So what? For the past four years it has been President Biden. So what? Here in Meridian and Lauderdale County, which party is in power in Washington makes little difference. The changes during the past 16 years — from Obama to Trump to Biden — brought little change down here, but nothing like the scope of change and problems in many areas around the country. Yes, the cost of living went down under Trump and up some under Democrats and Biden but not hugely. Gasoline went up too, but we have so much to be thankful for.
The Black Lives Matter protests didn’t take root here, so we didn’t have the rioting and looting some areas of the country had, nor has the huge increase in illegals streaming across our borders affected us — yet. Plus, our Democrat folks here were too smart to bite on that “woke” garbage. You could probably count on one hand the number of parents here who want their female children to compete against boys in sports, or be “groomed” by some man dressed up to look like a freaky looking painted up woman. Now the near final if not the final nail has been driven into the woke coffin by Walmart. They have just begun shedding their company of every last vestige of the woke garbage that behemoth had forced on its customers, associates and suppliers. Woke is over!
We are so blessed that the different races of our primary population do not clash, but just go along, get along, each enjoying activities that are mostly endemic to their own cultures historically. The general civility, respect and peaceful nature of most all of our citizens has overcome the terrible inhumane acts which occurred here in the past. We do indeed have much to be thankful for here in Meridian/Lauderdale County.
