The Salvation Army of Meridian is calling on community members to give of their time this holiday season as the organization needs volunteers to help with its holiday programs.
In a news release, Lt. Roy Fisher, commanding officer of The Salvation Army of Meridian said, it is the dedicated volunteers who truly make a difference in the lives of those in need.
“Volunteers are the army behind the Army,” stated Lt. Roy Fisher of The Salvation Army. “Without their support, we couldn’t carry out our mission to serve our community during this critical time of year.”
The Salvation Army’s holiday programs rely heavily on volunteers to help serve meals, distribute toys to children and ring bells for the iconic Red Kettle Campaign. This past year, the organization served over 10,000 people through various programs and services, providing support to families and individuals facing hardship during the holiday season.
“Whether you’re serving a meal, helping at our Angel Tree distribution events, or ringing a bell, your time and compassion can bring hope and joy to those who need it most,” Lt. Fisher added. “Every hand makes a difference, and every act of kindness counts.”
The Salvation Army invites individuals, families, and groups to join in this important work by signing up to volunteer. Holiday volunteer opportunities include helping to collect and distribute toys and clothing to area children and seniors, being a bell ringer at one of the Red Kettles throughout the community and more.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals and families to come together and give back to our community,” Fisher said. “Together, we can spread joy, hope and support to those who need it most during the holidays.”
