Meridian Community College swimmer Megan Heggie has been named a First-Team Scholar All-American by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America for the 2023-24 season.
This prestigious honor is awarded to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically, requiring a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participation in their national championship.
Heggie’s achievement places her among an elite group of more than 2,000 swimmers and divers recognized nationwide by the CSCAA. She was one of only 15 female swimmers from the National Junior College Athletic Association, and the only woman from a Mississippi community college, to earn the honor.
Her dedication in the classroom and the pool exemplifies the spirit of MCC’s athletic program and academic commitment, according to her coach.
“Megan represents the best of what MCC aims to achieve — academic and athletic excellence. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and dedication to her studies and sport,” said head swimming coach Wade Heggie.
