Local musicians, business owners and members of the community gathered at Dumont Plaza on Thursday for an evening of live music, food and fun for a good cause.

The Benefit Concert, which was organized by Spacey’s Rock and Roll Tattoo, the Arts and Community Events Society and The Salvation Army, was held to raise money for the long-term recovery effort from Hurricane Helene in the Carolinas.

Helene, which swept across the southeastern United States in late September, caused an estimated $53 billion in damage in North Carolina alone, according to estimates from the North Carolina government.
