AMES, Iowa (AP) — Curtis Jones scored 20 points and Tamin Lipsey added 17 to lead No. 5 Iowa State past IU Indianapolis 87-52. It was Jones’ second straight 20-point game off the bench and fourth in his two seasons with the Cyclones. Saint Mary’s transfer Joshua Jefferson had his first double-double for Iowa State with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Keshon Gilbert had 11 points and eight assists, and Lipsey led the Cyclones with five steals. Paul Zilinskas led the Jaguars with 16 points and Jarvis Walker added eight.

The Buffaloes also have the inside track to a spot in the Big 12 championship game and at 8-2 they’ve doubled last year’s victory total. Coach Deion Sanders put the kibosh on the notion his players or staff would take time to reflect on what they’ve accomplished so far. (AP) — Ayoka Lee and Zyanna Walker scored 16 points apiece, Kansas State used a big run midway through the first half to take control, and the No. 10 Wildcats rolled to a 73-43 victory over Little Rock. Eliza Maupin and Taryn Sides added 10 points each for the Wildcats, who have won the first four games on their season-opening five-game homestand in lopsided fashion. Sug Williams scored 10 points and Jordan Holman had eight points and nine rebounds for the Trojans, who fell to 1-3.

UNDATED (AP) — Kansas strengthened its grip on No. 1 in the AP Top 25. The rest of the top 10 turned into a jumble of teams swapping places. The Jayhawks picked up five first-place votes in The Associated Press men’s college basketball poll, receiving 49 from a 61-person media panel. No. 2 UConn, No. 3 Gonzaga and No. 4 Auburn all received votes. The shuffling started with No. 8 Alabama’s loss to No. 6 Purdue, a game that dropped the Crimson Tide six spots and bumped the Boilermakers up seven. Losses by Duke and Arizona shook up the top 10.

UNDATED (AP) — TCU has entered The Associated Press Top 25 women’s basketball poll at No. 19, the school’s best ranking in 16 years. The first 12 teams in the Top 25 remained unchanged with South Carolina once again a unanimous choice at No. 1. The Gamecocks were followed by UConn, USC, Texas and UCLA. The Gamecocks and Bruins will play on Sunday a day after No. 6 Notre Dame visits the Trojans. LSU, Iowa State, Oklahoma and Kansas State round out the top 10.

UNDATED (AP) — New Mexico quarterback Devon Dampier is The Associated Press college football player of the week. Dampier’s third rushing touchdown with 23 seconds left gave the Lobos a 38-35 win over Washington State. He also threw for another score. He finished with 193 yards rushing and 174 yards passing as the Lobos beat a ranked team for the first time since 2003. South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers was runner-up. His 15-yard touchdown pass with 15 seconds left gave the Gamecocks a 34-30 win over Missouri and punctuated a performance where the freshman threw for career highs of 353 yards and five TDs.
