UNDATED (AP) — Kiyan Anthony is following in his father’s footsteps. He’s going to play basketball at Syracuse. Carmelo Anthony’s son — a highly touted shooting guard from Long Island Lutheran High — made it official on Friday, two years after the Orange offered him a scholarship. Kiyan Anthony is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard and generally considered the top recruit in New York state as well as one of the nation’s top prospects. Syracuse had to beat out Southern California and Auburn, among others, to get the commitment.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Elliot Cadeau and Jalen Washington scored 18 points apiece and No. 10 North Carolina overwhelmed American in the second half for a 107-55 victory. Cadeau scored 11 of North Carolina’s first 23 points, and Washington shot 6 for 6 from the field and 6 for 7 on free throws. RJ Davis and Seth Trimble each scored 13 points, and Cade Tyson added 11 points off the bench as the Tar Heels were back in action a week after losing 92-89 at No. 1 Kansas. Matt Rogers had 15 points and reserve Elijah Stephens posted 12 points for American.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Damian Dunn made four 3-pointers and scored 23, Guillermo Diaz Graham added a double-double and Pittsburgh had no problems dispatching West Virginia 86-62. Dunn hit seven of his 12 shots from the floor — including 4 of 7 from beyond the arc — and 5 of 7 at the free-throw line for the Panthers (4-0). Diaz Graham finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season and the second of the junior’s career. Reserve Jonathan Powell hit four 3-pointrs and scored 16 to lead the Mountaineers (2-1) in their first road game of the campaign.

BALTIMORE (AP) — Ace Baldwin Jr. and Zach Hicks scored 19 points apiece and Penn State rolled to an 86-64 victory over Virginia Tech at the Hall of Fame Series. Baldwin added 10 assists for his first double-double of the season for the Nittany Lions (4-0). He made 5 of 11 shots from the floor and nine of his 10 free throws. Hicks hit five 3-pointers and added five rebounds and three steals. Mylyjael Poteat led the Hokies (3-1) with 15 points.

ATLANTA (AP) — Silas Demary Jr. scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half, Asa Newell had 14 points and Georgia beat Georgia Tech 77-69 on Friday night in the 200th series meeting that dates to 1906. Georgia beat Georgia Tech for the seventh time in the last nine meetings. The teams combined to score 46 points in the first half before each scored 50 after halftime. Newell made Georgia’s first 3-pointer in 15 attempts with 8:34 remaining in the second half for a 45-39 lead. Tyrin Lawrence added a three-point play on the Bulldogs’ next possession for a nine-point lead. Blue Cain made Georgia’s second 3 with 4:26 left and after a Georgia Tech turnover, RJ Godfrey made a layup while being fouled to make it 61-50

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Jahmyl Telfort scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half and Butler beat SMU 81-70, handing the Mustangs their first loss of the season. Telfort, who made just 1 of 7 shots in the first half, hit 5 of 9 with two 3-pointers in the second for the Bulldogs (3-1), who have opened with four straight home games. He added six rebounds and five assists. Kolby King and Pierre Brooks both scored 14 for Butler. King came off the bench to sink 5 of 6 shots including all four of his 3-point attempts. Finley Bizjack was 8 for 8 at the foul line and scored 12 with six rebounds. Chuck Harris came off the bench to hit four 3-pointers and score 21 to lead the Mustangs (3-1) in their first road game of the season.

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Paige Bueckers scored 29 points to help No. 2 UConn beat No. 14 North Carolina 69-58. The win allowed longtime coach Geno Auriemma to tie the record for career victories in Division I men’s and women’s basketball. The 70-year-old Auriemma earned his 1,216th career victory to match retired Stanford women’s coach Tara VanDerveer. Indya Nivar had 15 points and nine rebounds to lead the Tar Heels. UNC shot 36% and made 7 of 24 3-pointers.

BALTIMORE (AP) — Isaac McKneely scored 23 points and made all six of his 3-point attempts to help Virginia beat Villanova 70-60 on Friday night as part of the Hall of Fame Series. Virginia is 3-0 under interim coach Ron Sanchez after three-time national coach of the year Tony Bennett retired. McKneely made his first six shots of the game, including four 3-pointers. McKneely also made Virginia’s 11th 3-pointer with 16:24 left in the second half to take a double-digit lead for good at 44-33. McKneely’s fifth 3-pointer rattled in with 6:26 left for a 58-45 advantage and his sixth turned into a four-point play for an 18-point lead.
