OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Jaxson Dart threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Antwane Wells Jr. in the third quarter, and No. 16 Mississippi shut down No. 2 Georgia for a 28-10 victory. Caden Davis kicked five field goals as Mississippi earned its third consecutive win. Ulysses Bentley had a 9-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. A rain-soaked Ole Miss student section stormed the field with 16 seconds left, leading to a delay. The scene was repeated after Dart’s kneeldown closed it out. Georgia scored on a 2-yard run by Nate Frazier early in the first quarter. But Mississippi quickly grabbed control from there.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Jalen Milroe highlighted a career-high 185 yards rushing with four scoring runs, and No. 11 Alabama routed 14th-ranked LSU 42-13. Milroe’s fourth touchdown came on a 72-yard sprint that gave the Crimson Tide a 29-point lead early in the fourth quarter. The victory keeps Alabama firmly in contention for a College Football Playoff berth. But the Tigers dropped virtually out of the running with not only their third loss this season, but their second straight by 15 or more points. Milroe’s performance as a runner eclipsed his previous single-game best of 155 yards and four TDs rushing in a 42-28 victory over LSU a year ago in Tuscaloosa. LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was intercepted twice and lost a fumble.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A caged tiger was wheeled onto the Tiger Stadium field for the first time in nearly a decade before kickoff of Saturday night’s game between No. 14 LSU and No. 11 Alabama. The moment fulfilled the wishes of Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry, who had the tiger transported to Baton Rouge from Florida for the occasion. LSU has a live tiger named Mike VII in a 15,000-square-foot enclosure near Tiger Stadium but decided years ago against bringing it into the stadium out of concern for how it would respond to visual and audio effects during pregame festivities. Animal rights activists protested outside Tiger Stadium before the game.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Raheim Sanders ran for 126 yards and two touchdowns and scored a 43-yard TD catch as South Carolina thumped No. 24 Vanderbilt 28-7 for the Gamecocks’ second straight win over a Top 25 team. The Gamecocks (6-3, 4-3 Southeastern Conference) followed up their rout of then-No. 10 Texas A&M by going on the road and dominating Vanderbilt (6-4, 3-3). They outgained Vandy 452-274. Sellers threw for 238 yards and two TDs. He gave the Gamecocks a 7-0 halftime with a 17-yard touchdown pass to Joshua Simon. Pavia threw for 166 yards and added 65 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia is suing the NCAA challenging its rules limiting the eligibility of former junior college players after transferring to a Division I school as “unjustifiably” restraining athletes’ ability to earn money under name, image and likeness rules. The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee in Nashville asks for a temporary restraining order as Pavia asks for two more seasons of Division I eligibility. He also asks that Vanderbilt, or any other college, not be punished for complying with orders from the court. Pavia did not receive an offer from a FBS program before playing at a junior college and then New Mexico State.
