LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Top-ranked Kansas blew a 20-point first-half lead, then had to rally itself in the closing minutes for a 92-89 victory over No. 9 North Carolina on Friday night. The game ended when the Tar Heels’ Elliot Cadeau missed a 3-pointer from right in front of his own bench as time expired. It was just the 13th time that two programs with a combined 10 national championships had met on the hardwood, and the first on either campus since the Tar Heels won in Allen Fieldhouse in 1960. Hunter Dickinson made sure there would be no repeat, scoring the go-ahead basket with 1:15 remaining and finishing with 20 points in the game.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — University of Miami president Joe Echevarria has had football season tickets since 1978, the year he graduated from the school. The seats he buys now are as good as most people can get, field club seats right behind one of the goalposts. He doesn’t use them. He’s found an even better view. Instead of his luxury seats Echevarria can be found on Miami gamedays on the Hurricanes’ sideline, home or away, trying to be presidential but more often than not reverting to fandom.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Jaland Lowe scored 20 points and Damian Dunn and Ishmael Leggett each scored 19 and Pitt pulled away late in the second half to beat Murray State 83-68. Cameron Cohren scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebonds before fouling out for Pitt.
