Meridian Symphony Association is inviting the public to experience the magic of the holiday season with two special concerts. A Night to Shine at Soulé and Peppermint Pops: Christmas Joy will bring music, memories and the festive spirit in a celebration Mississippi’s musical heritage and the heartwarming traditions of the holiday season.
A Night to Shine at Soulé
On Nov. 15 and 16, step back in time into the legacy of country music as MSA celebrates Meridian’s very own “Father of Country Music,” Jimmie Rodgers, along with the talented songwriters who helped define his legacy, Virginia Shine and Elsie McWilliams. A Night to Shine will be a musical journey that honors Rodgers’ Mississippi roots, performed in one of Meridian’s most atmospheric venues, the historic Soulé Steam Works. The concert will feature the Mississippi natives-turned-Nashville stars, Brassfield, who will transport listeners back to the roots of American country music.
Each evening will showcase local favorites such as Garrett Reaves, Couch in the Woods, The Terry Cherry Trio, The Wandering Pines and feature special guest Britt Gully, whose talent and passion bring authenticity to every note. With Southern-inspired food and drinks, smooth cigars, the unique ambiance of Soulé’s historic foundry and dance-worthy tunes, it’s the ultimate country-inspired date night. Boot, scoot and boogie your way through Soulé’s hidden cobblestone pathways as you enjoy the best of local talent in an atmosphere steeped in history.
Take this opportunity to share an unforgettable night in a place where history meets music under the stars, surrounded by the character and charm of downtown Meridian. Tap your boots, join the line dancing, or simply relax with a drink as you watch local stars shine on stage. Tickets are on sale now – don’t miss this unique celebration of Meridian’s musical heritage!
A Night to Shine at Soulé will feature two performances at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 and 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16.
Peppermint Pops: Christmas Joy
Prepare to be swept away by the magic of the season with Peppermint Pops: Christmas Joy, a post-parade celebration for families, friends and holiday lovers of all ages. Stepping into the historic Riley Center, visitors will be greeted by the sparkle and warmth of the season, setting the stage for a heartwarming concert featuring the Meridian Symphony Chorus and special guests, the Meridian High School Honor Choir alongside the Meridian Symphony Orchestra. With lush harmonies and festive orchestrations, this holiday performance will feature all the favorites—classic carols, contemporary hits and timeless symphonic pieces—to fill the air with joy and togetherness.
The holiday concert is set to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, following the Meridian Christmas Parade. Audiences can expect a variety of festive treats, including the “Hallelujah” chorus from Handle’s Messiah, a jazzy rendition of beloved carols like “Jingle Bells” and “Sleigh Ride,” and a few surprises guaranteed to make spirits bright. The evening’s special guest, vocalist Mandy Spivak, will add a delightful touch with her expressive, enchanting voice, making for a truly magical experience.
After the concert, the Symphony Winter Wonderland awaits! Santa and his elves will be on hand for photo ops, along with hot cocoa, cookies and other holiday treats for all to enjoy. Children are invited to write and mail their Letters to Santa, and back by popular demand, snow will fall on 5th Street, creating a picture-perfect scene for families and friends to soak in the spirit of the season.
With its blend of traditional and contemporary holiday tunes, Peppermint Pops: Christmas Joy is the perfect opportunity to come together and revel in the wonder of Christmas.
