LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — North Carolina and Kansas will be meeting for only the 13th time in their storied histories on Friday night, and for only the second time, the ninth-ranked Tar Heels will be playing the top-ranked Jayhawks on campus. The game at Allen Fieldhouse is the first of a rare home-and-home series that sees Kansas heading to Chapel Hill in November 2025. While the two bluebloods have rarely played, their 12 matchups have carried plenty of weight. Seven have been in the NCAA Tournament, five have been in the Final Four and, in 1957 and 2022, the two played for the national championship.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Lexi Donarski scored 21 points and made five 3-pointers to lead No. 15 North Carolina to a 77-50 victory over UNC Wilmington. Donarski, a transfer from Iowa State who averaged 14 points last season, shot 8 of 14 from the floor and 5 of 11 from long range. Reniya Kelly added three 3s and finished with 14 points for North Carolina (2-0). Taylor Henderson scored 15 points and made two 3-pointers for UNC Wilmington (0-2). The Tar Heels opened on a 12-2 run, outscored the Seahawks 20-6 in the second quarter and led 40-16 at the break.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — Adalia McKenzie and Makira Cook each scored 20 points and Kendall Bostic scored 14 of her 18 points in the first half to help Illinois beat No. 19 Florida State 83-74. Florida State made just 3 of 16 from the field and committed six turnovers to open the game as Illinois never trailed and jumped to a 16-6 lead. Bostic was 6-of-6 shooting before the break as Illinois led by as many as 17 points before taking a 43-34 lead into halftime. Makayla Timpson made a jumper that cut Florida State’s deficit to five points with just under 6 minutes to play but Cook answered with a layup and the Seminoles got no closer. Ta’Niya Latson scored 27 points and Timpson had 22 and 14 rebounds for FSU,

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Tre’Von Spillers had 15 points and 16 rebounds and Wake Forest shook off North Carolina A&T 80-64 on Thursday night. Spillers, an Appalachian State transfer, collected his points on 7-of-14 shooting and his 16 boards tied a career high. Hunter Sallis added 14 points, Efton Reid had 12 points, Cameron Hildreth scored 11 and Parker Friedrichsen 10. Landon Glasper scored 23 points to lead the Aggies. All his field goals came from the arc where he was 7 of 20 but just 7 of 29 overall. Ryan Forrest scored 10 points.

BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) — Jovan Blacksher Jr. scored 18 points, Andrej Stojakovic added 15 and California erased Cal Poly’s early double-digit lead, going on to a 91-73 victory on Tuesday night. Blacksher hit four 3-pointers and the Golden Bears went 11 of 26 from the arc in improving to 2-0 for the first time since the 2019-20 season they opened with four wins. Rytis Petraitis scored 13 points off the bench and BJ Omot had 10. Lee Dort grabbed 11 rebounds to go with eight points. Issac Jessup hit 5 of 9 3-point attempts and finished with 20 points to lead Cal Poly before fouling out. Owen Koonce added 11 points.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Don Bosseler, an All-American fullback who led Miami to the No. 6 ranking in The Associated Press poll in 1956 and was enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame, has died, his family and the National Football Foundation announced. He was 88. Bosseler, who played eight years in the NFL, died Wednesday in Atlanta. Bosseler was a first-round selection by Washington in 1957, drafted ninth overall that year, and rushed for 3,112 yards and 22 touchdowns in eight NFL seasons. He made the Pro Bowl in 1959.

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — No. 19 Clemson is facing the same old questions about their talent, depth and ability to compete for championships heading down the stretch after a glaring, 33-21 home loss to Louisville. The Tigers looked like they had put their problems aside as they won six in a row after losing their opener to then-No. 1 Georgia in August. But the issues resurfaced as the Tigers were mostly manhandled by the Cardinals. Clemson looks to rebound in a hurry when it heads to Virginia Tech on Saturday.

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Clemson coach Dabo Swinney wasn’t particularly keen on rehashing his team’s loss to Louisville last week, discussing his chances of reaching the ACC Championship game, or talking about the recently released College Football Playoff rankings. Swinney says “I’m just trying to find a way to beat Virginia Tech.” The No. 19 Tigers (6-2, 5-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) play at Virginia Tech on Saturday after a 33-21 loss to the Cardinals in a game in which they dominated statistically. The Tigers still can advance to the ACC title game, but they need to win and need mishaps from Miami or SMU in the regular season’s final three weeks.
