- JEMS, a singer/songwriter trio, is made up of Jessica Rotter, Emily Colombier and Meridian native Sarah Margaret Huff. They will perform at The MAX on Wednesday, Sept. 25, as part of fall programming at The MAX in conjunction with the new Walter Anderson art exhibit.
Meridian native Sarah Margaret Huff, along with Emily Colombier and Jessica Rotter, who make up the singer-songwriter trio JEMS, will perform Wednesday night at the Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience in downtown Meridian.
Prior to the 7 p.m. concert, the evening will feature a pop-up culinary experience for members of The MAX by James Beard finalist Chef Hunter Evans.
“The MAX is excited to offer this music and food experience celebrating Mississippi’s arts and cultural legacy by highlighting some of our state’s rising talent,” said MAX President and CEO Penny Kemp. “It’s also wonderful to welcome Sarah Margaret Huff back home.”
On tour promoting their new album, “Back Around,” JEMS is a LA-based, indie-folk trio. They describe their new album as “an expansive landscape of enchanting harmonies, adventurous instrumentals, poignant themes, and compelling storytelling,” according to a MAX press release.
The JEMS concert will take place at 7 p.m. in The MAX’s Citizens National Bank Courtyard. Memphis-based Cyrena Wages will open the show.
Members of The MAX are invited to a 5:30 p.m. preshow featuring Evans, owner of the Mayflower Cafe and Elvie’s restaurants in Jackson. Light eats will be provided. Evans recently claimed new media attention when he and a partner reopened the iconic Mayflower in downtown Jackson.
“This event nicely complements the Walter Anderson exhibit currently on display and allows us to thank our members for their continued support,” Kemp said.
Tickets to the JEMS concert are $20 each or free to MAX members. Visit msarts.org to purchase tickets or register as a member. Annual memberships start at $50 a person and include free admission to the museum year-round.
