Sebastopol is known for being a run first team and how they respond off a loss.

It showed on Thursday night behind the play of quarterback Adarius McDougle as the Bobcats raced past Southeast Lauderdale 43-14 at Algie Davis Field at Tiger Stadium.

“Really focused on starting fast with the run cause that’s what we do and establish the run,” said Sebastopol coach Keith Brown. “We didn’t play well last week, and we wanted to get the taste out of our mouth, so it was big for us to get out to that fast start and played a lot better up front, so proud of those guys.”

The Bobcats wasted no time in scoring on the game’s opening drive as McDougle raced into the end zone from 13 yards out to give Sebastopol a 7-0 lead with 10:44 left in the first quarter.

McDougle found Luke McGarrity on a 21-yard touchdown pass with 4:37 left in the first quarter to extend the Bobcat lead to 13-0.

McDougle and McGarrity would connect again, this time from 24 yards out, to give Sebastopol a 20-0 with 10:29 left in the second quarter.

McDougle scrambled for a 29-yard touchdown run with four seconds left before halftime to give the Bobcats a 27-0 lead.

Jamarius Lay scored on a 6-yard run with 7:17 left in the third quarter to give Sebastopol a 33-0 lead.

Southeast Lauderdale cut the lead down to 33-14 on back-to-back scoring drives as Jaden Harbin found Mario Leflore on a 30-yard touchdown pass with 4:56 left and an 81-yard touchdown pass on the last play of the third quarter.

Noah Atkinson added a 37-yard field, and McDougle had a 23-yard touchdown run in the fourth to give the Bobcats the 43-14 lead.

Sebastopol (3-1) had 386 yards rushing.

“We’ve been going against loaded boxes, and we’ve got to show that we’ve got to throw the ball and tonight we had some success and had big plays,” Brown said. “Adarius is a special player, and it feels good to be back on track and hopefully in the right direction.”

McDougle finished with 20 rushes for 160 yards and three touchdowns and went 4-of-9 passing for 97 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bobcats.

“Passing tonight was big for us. Luke did a good job of getting them and was my target for the night,” McDougle said. “Offensive line did a great job blocking up front, and we need to keep this up and keep momentum moving forward.”

Leflore had three catches for 130 yards for two touchdowns for Southeast Lauderdale, and Harbin went 7-of-15 for 131 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers (1-3).

“Credit to Sebastopol they have a good team, but we’ve seem to made it a habit of starting games bad, and it’s hard to overcome,” said Southeast Lauderdale Linc Luker. “I was proud of how the kids played down the stretch and played with a lot of fight. We’re preaching these guys to play hard for 48 minutes, and I feel like they did.”
