- ECCC to offer beginner string instrument program
East Central Community College has announced the launch of a new beginner string instrument program designed for students aged 8 and above. The program will focus on teaching the violin, viola and cello, providing an opportunity for young musicians to develop their skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
An interest meeting for the program will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 7 in the Carson Band Hall on the ECCC campus in Decatur. During this meeting, parents and students will receive detailed information about the program, including payment dates, required materials and what participants can expect throughout the semester.
The beginner string classes will take place on Saturday mornings in the Carson Band Hall, starting in September. The fee for the fall semester is $120, which covers all classes and instruction.
“We are thrilled to offer this new opportunity for aspiring musicians in our community,” said Mandy Quinn, Fine Arts Department chair and band director/director of percussion. “Our goal is to foster a love for music in our students and provide them with the foundational skills to grow as musicians.”
Sign-up forms can be found at eccc.edu/strings.
Parents are encouraged to complete a separate registration form for each child interested in joining the program. For more information or any questions, please contact Mandy Quinn at mquinn@eccc.edu.
