A Meridian man is facing charges of armed robbery after a man with a gun stole cash from a local convenience store Friday, according to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department.
In a social media post, LCSD said an employee at the A & A Express at 3200 Causeyville Road called 911 at 11:35 p.m. Friday reporting that a Black male with a handgun had taken cash from the store before leaving on foot. Sheriff’s deputies and Meridian Police Department’s K-9 unit took three suspects into custody shortly afterward.
Marlus Romero Winters, 22, was charged with armed robbery Saturday and given a bond of $250,000. He is being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center.
The other two people were released without charges, LCSD said in an update posted to its social media Saturday.
An investigation into the robbery is ongoing, and the case will be presented to the next available grand jury, LCSD said.
