Letter to the Editor: Thank you, linemen

I was sitting and watching the TV one evening last week, and the nasty weather caused the power to go out. I found candles, but naturally my oil lamps had no wicks. So I grabbed my Kindle and started to read. After about three hours or so, the power popped back on.
Yay! Great! I could see to take a shower!
Then I stopped and thought about some men who got out of their dry homes in that weather to climb poles or change out boxes or pick up cables. There was no one with their families. They were busy taking care of me out here on a road they had to drive around in the rain to find.
We don’t often think about the men who are out there with water running down their slicker sleeves, watching the lightning, or leaving their families in the bad weather so they could help me and you. We owe them a debt of gratitude.
Thank you, EMEPA. I don’t know what we would do without you. (I would have to buy wicks for my lamps, for sure.)
Also want you to know I prayed for you men that night that God would protect you, not just that night but every night.
Again, thank you, linemen of EMEPA. Thank you!
