Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars as the Mississippi Council of the Navy League hosts its 13th annual Wings & Tails event Tuesday, May 7.
The festivities are set to kick off with a social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Key Brothers Hangar at Meridian Regional Airport. Dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m.
Wings & Tails is the Navy League’s annual fundraiser, with the proceeds going toward the organization’s goal of supporting military missions and personnel. Locally, the Navy League works to support the personnel and missions on board Naval Air Station Meridian and the Northeast Lauderdale High School NJROTC program.
“Wings & Tails is a great opportunity for the community to come together and as civilians and the military,” Laura Carmichael, president of the Navy League, said in a news release. “We invite everyone to join us for a fun-filled evening to help further our mission to provide education and services to our military personnel and their families.”
This year’s Wings & Tails will feature live entertainment by Scott McQuaig and the Tom Cats as well as a variety of classic hot-rod cars, airplanes and jets for attendees to view. Attendees will also be treated to an air show if weather permits.
On the menu for dinner are catfish, shrimp, chicken wings, potatoes and corn. The meal, along with the live music, show and other festivities, is included in the cost of admission.
Tickets for Wings & Tails are available for $30 and can be purchased from any Navy League member or at the gate. For more information, call 601-917-2697 or 601-479-8013.
