Meridian Police Department is asking the public to come forward with any information that can help investigators in a double homicide.
At a press conference Friday, Police Chief Deborah Naylor Young said officers responded to a possible home invasion call shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday where they found Miles Herrington, 97, and his wife, Ina Herrington, 94, dead with multiple injuries.

“The Meridian Police Department violent crime unit was activated and came out to collect any and all evidence and also to get more information to further this investigation,” she said.
Young said the bodies of both victims have been sent for autopsies to help in the investigation.
“We would like to tell the families that Meridian Police Department would like to send out our condolences and sympathies to them for this tragic and violent act that occurred,” she said.
MPD is actively working the investigation, Young said, with investigators working around the clock to better understand what happened and identify the suspect or suspects responsible. Those found responsible, she said, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
“We would like the community to know that this is an isolated incident,” she said. “This is not anything that we’re looking at that there’s anyone that is going around seek out to do anything to anyone.”
Young said the police department is unable to release many details of the case due to the ongoing investigation, but more information will be made public when it is available.

“When we find out more information that we can let the community know, we will be more than happy to put that out,” she said.
