UPDATE: This story has been updated to reflect that Friday’s parade to honor the Meridian High School boy’s basketball team, winners of the 2024 Class 7A state championship, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 26.
Due to rain forecasted for Friday, officials decided to move the parade to Tuesday. The parade will still begin at 5:30 p.m. at Singing Brakeman Park in downtown Meridian.
The Meridian High Wildcats defeated Clinton 54-50 on March 2 to claim the school’s fourth state championship title in program history.
Due to ongoing construction in the area around city hall, the parade route and lineup will begin at Signing Brakeman Park on Front Street and continue down the street, where the parade will make a right on 22nd Avenue and conclude at Dumont Plaza.
Meridian residents and MHS alumni are encouraged to come out and show their support for the team.
