Lauderdale County residents will have an opportunity to be reunited with their unclaimed money as the county is set to hold an unclaimed property event on Monday.

From 3-7 p.m., residents can stop by the boardroom of the Lauderdale County Government Center, located at 612 22nd Avenue, to claim property that is in their names.

Unclaimed property is collected by State Treasurer David McRae’s office after the organization holding it fails to make contact with the rightful owner. Examples of unclaimed property include uncashed checks, savings accounts, life insurance payouts and more.

Residents can check to see if they have any unclaimed property ahead of the event by visiting lauderdalecounty.org/unclaimed-property. For those outside Lauderdale County or who may have unclaimed property from a previous address, visit the state treasurer’s website atms.findyourunclaimedproperty.com.
