Five MCC athletes sign to continue college athletic careers

Five Meridian Community College sophomore athletes gathered at MCC on Wednesday to sign to play their sports at new schools next season.

Taylah Ross signed to play soccer for Tougaloo College, Blaise Priester signed to play baseball at Louisiana State University and Landon Waters signed to play baseball at the University of Mississippi, while Caleb Hall and Rhett Ketchum will play baseball for Louisiana Tech University.

Ross anchored the Eagles’ back line during her two years at MCC. Priester will return to LSU, where he previously redshirted, after hitting .357 with 10 home runs and 36 RBIs and making the All-MACCC first team in his first season with MCC. Ketchum hit .328 with 25 RBIs and seven extra-base hits in his freshman season. Waters put up a 5-0 record on the pitching mound for MCC with a 4.42 ERA and 36 strikeouts, and Hall put up a 4-0 record with a 2.98 ERA and 49 strikeouts.
