Families and children enjoyed a day of fun and games as the Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library held its annual Fall Festival on Tuesday. The event featured a variety of games and activities for kids to win candy and other prizes, as well as food trucks and other vendors.
Children were also able to pet a variety of animals from a cow to a rabbit to a goat, as well as take a pony ride at Angie Hale’s Petting Zoo, which was set up in the parking lot.
Those who stopped by the registration table at the festival also received a pair of special glasses to safely view the upcoming solar eclipse set for Sunday. The eclipse is expected to begin in Oregon around 11:13 a.m. and end in Texas about noon. In Mississippi, residents can expect to see about 60% to 65% of the sun obscured.
