The Children’s Center at Central United Methodist Church recently completed a Fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Center raised a total of $13,299.50. Children raising $800 or more were recognized at an Awards Program on Monday, April 22. Those students were: Anne Harris Crowe; Marilyn Mitchell; Addison Mitchell; Madi Briggs; Parks McGinnis; and Ellie Heart Saul. Together, these children and their families raised $6,890.00.
The Children’s Center is a preschool learning center for one through 4-year-old children. Several years ago, the Center was impacted by the help that two of their children received through St. Jude Hospital and their research. The Center was so impressed in how these families were treated that they decided to help and have been doing so for many years. Each year children with cancer and their families can go to St. Jude with nothing to worry about but helping their child get well. Because of fundraisers like this one at Central, families have no expenses. There are no bills to pay.
Founded by actor, comedian, and entertainer, Danny Thomas, his primary concern was that children are taken care of and their families as well. No parent should have to worry about expenses when their children are so ill.
