FOOTBALL ROUNDUP (Friday, Nov. 5, 2021): West Lauderdale, Enterprise advance to 2nd round

JJ Grant scored four touchdowns and ran for 250 yards on 22 carries as West Lauderdale blew out Mooreville 72-15 in Friday night playoff football action.

The win advanced the Knights (10-1) to the second round of the MHSAA Class 4A postseason this week. West Lauderdale is set to face Senatobia Friday.

Quarterback Jackson Parker finished 4-for-7 for 56 yards passing and also rushed seven times for 38 yards and two touchdowns. Caleb Collins added 84 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, and Hayes Nance rushed seven times for 84 yards and a score. Wyatt Castle had all four of Parker’s completions for 56 yards.

Defensively, Jordan Gowdy finished with five solo tackles and four tackles for loss for West Lauderdale, while Dillon Williamson and Landon Vaughn each had six solo tackles. Dylan Brown had four solo tackles and a tackle for loss, and Carson Smith, Bradon Epting, Hunter Fuller and Commondre Cole each had a tackle for loss as well for the Knights.

ENTERPRISE 42, SEMINARY 7 

Zee Sims scored three touchdowns for Enterprise as the Bulldogs rolled past Seminary Friday in the first round of the MHSAA Class 3A playoffs.

Sims scored on runs of 19, 1 and 2 yards, respectively, and quarterback Derryon Gray also had two touchdown carries for 42 and 2 yards apiece. Gavyn Dear scored Enterprise’s final touchdown on a 13-yard run.

Gray finished 3 of 5 for 71 yards passing, and Sims had all three receptions for 71 yards. Sims rushed 12 times for 72 yards, and Dear had 48 yards on seven carries. Parks Burt finished with 41 yards on nine carries, Trace Roy had 38 yards on nine rushes and Gray rushed four times for 30 yards.

Defensively, Ridge Jackson led the Bulldogs with five tackles, while Sims finished with three tackles and one tackle for loss. Dear had a tackle for loss, as did Burt, and Percell Lindsey tallied two tackles for loss.

Enterprise (11-0) is set to face Magee Friday in the second round.
