A child was shot and killed late Sunday night in Meridian, authorities said. 

Meridian police said the 3-year old was shot around 11 p.m. Police did not release where the shooting occurred. 

The child, who was not identified, later died at a local hospital, said Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler. 

Police said no arrests have been made in the case, which remains under investigation.
