A pedestrian crossing I-20 in Meridian was killed Thursday night, according to Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler.

The victim crossed the westbound lanes around 7 p.m. between exits 152 and 153, went over a barrier, and was struck by a car in the eastbound lanes, he said.

Traffic was temporarily stopped on I-20 eastbound.

The identity of the individual was not immediately released.
