A truck driver was killed in a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 59 Thursday afternoon in Lauderdale County.

Police responded to a one-vehicle accident involving an 18-wheeler on the northbound lane of Interstate 59 before noon on Thursday in Lauderdale County, Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt. Andy West said.

The truck went off the road and then hit a tree, West said, and the truck driver died on the scene. The name of the driver is being held until next of kin has been contacted.
