A pair of six-run innings propelled Newton County Academy past Glenbrook in Game 2 of the second round of the MAIS Class AA postseason.

The Generals advanced to the AA South State title series, where they will play either Brookhaven Academy or Amite School Center next week with a state title series berth on the line.

NCA (17-12) scored six runs in the top of the third inning and six more in the top of the sixth. The Generals finished with eight hits and 11 walks.

Hays West finished 3-for-5 with an RBI, while Kemp Alderman was 1-for-3 with two walks. Dalton Sibley hit a two-run double and walked twice, while Lincoln Jordan tallied a hit and three walks. Hayden Wall and Alec Thompson also collected hits for the Generals.

Hayden West got the start for NCA, going 2 1/3 innings and giving up eight runs, three earned, on five hits and two walks. He also struck out five. Hays West pitched the final 4 2/3 innings, giving up one unearned run on three hits while striking out seven. The Generals committed four errors.
