Larry D. McCoy, of 45th Avenue, Meridian, was charged with murder on Sunday, Meridian Police Capt. John Griffith said.

Around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, McCoy and his wife got into an altercation, Griffith said. He couldn’t confirm if it was physical or verbal.

McCoy went to a neighbor’s house and called authorities, reporting his wife had been shot, Griffith said. He was taken into custody on the scene and his wife was found dead in the house, Griffith said.

McCoy was formally charged with murder during a preliminary hearing Monday morning in Meridian. McCoy’s bond was set at $100,000 and he is being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center until a grand jury convenes.
