Professional wrestling returned to Meridian Community College’s Tommy Dulaney Center Friday night, bringing loud cheers from fans and delivering money to the college’s Surgical Technology Program.
“Tonight was a good night for Meridian Community College and our Surgical Technology Program,” event organizer Mecklin Soules, the MCC Surgical Technology Program coordinator and instructor, said in a news release. “We have people here of all ages having a great time and enjoying themselves. This is great public relations for our program and for Meridian Community College.”
Eaglemania II entertained the capacity crowd from the opening bell to the closing main event, when Rey Fury defeated The Minotaur.
The family-friendly event encouraged fan participation and gave the children in the audience an opportunity to get inside the ring. After the tag-team match, Big Mike Carter invited youngsters to come inside the ring, and excited children filled the ring.
During the championship match, Monty Warbucks crawled over for the cover, with no referee in sight. As the crowd waited in anticipation, MCC President Thomas Huebner took it upon himself to slide into the ring and count the one-two-three, and as the crowd cheered, he raised the hand of the new Heavyweight Champ Monty Warbucks.
