A person in their late teens died early Saturday morning in a vehicle accident just outside of Philadelphia in Neshoba County, authorities said. 

Neshoba County Sheriff Tommy Waddell said the accident occurred around 4 a.m. on Highway 19 South. 

“The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree,” Waddell said. 

The passenger of the vehicle died, but the driver had only minor injuries, Waddell said. Their names were not released. 

The Sheriff’s Department initially responded to the accident, but the Mississippi Highway Patrol will be investigating, Waddell said.
