An expansion of Emilia’s De Kalb facility increases the company’s manufacturing capacity and involves an investment in new equipment and a 21,000-square-foot addition to the company’s existing facility, according to a news release from the Mississippi Development Authority.
The expansion is expected to be complete in the fall of 2019, the company said.
The company had previously announced an expansion in August 2017, which entailed an investment of $150,000 and created 30 jobs. The latest expansion will bring employment at the facility to approximately 140 workers.
Emilia Resources manufactures over-the-counter cosmetic and personal-care products that are sold through retailers such as Walmart, KMart, Dollar General, CVS, Target and Rite Aid.
The De Kalb location, at 14124 Hwy. 16 West, was acquired by Emilia in 2014.
The Mississippi Development Authority is assisting with building construction and the Appalachian Regional Commission and Kemper County are assisting with the project.
“Leaders at all levels of government throughout the state partner to create a strong business environment that fosters community and economic development. Emilia Resources’ latest expansion in De Kalb is a shining example of that partnership as the company creates dozens of new jobs for East Mississippi’s workforce,” Gov. Phil Bryant said in a statement.
“Emilia Resources’ is a valued member of the Mississippi business community,” MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. said in the release. “The company’s continued commitment to the people of Kemper County is evidenced by its decision to invest additional capital for the expansion, adding new career opportunities in its East Mississippi operations.”
