Thanks to Meridian motorist
My husband and I were recently traveling from Atlanta to our home in Clinton, near Jackson, when we had a flat on our travel trailer on I-20. After my husband had finished changing the tire, we discovered that the caution lights had drained our van battery to zero. We were still miles from the Mississippi state line.

Almost immediately, a retired service man, Charles, stopped: retired from the military but not from service. He assisted us by loaning tools, kind words and jumping our battery.
Since he was headed home to Meridian, he volunteered to follow us to his exit. A honk and a wave was the last we saw of him. We made it home without further difficulty.
We were unable to thank him adequately for his kindess so hope this message will reach him.

Impressed by Magnolia Marathon
Trending
My husband and I participated in the Magnolia Marathon that took place on Nov. 17 in Meridian. This wasn’t our first marathon in a state or city that we had never visited nor will it be our last but it may be the only one, out of 40 or so, that has compelled us to write a letter to your local newspaper.
What a wonderful group of people involved in the race, from the race director, the volunteers and the police. These were the friendliest, kindest even happiest group of folks that we have ever encountered in our running adventures away from home.
We were the last to finish the event but they treated us like a king and queen as several joined in to travel with us our last mile to the finish line. We experienced some car trouble but they personally drove us. The race “medals” are made from Magnolia wood by one of your local craftsmen who is a father of one of the members in the local running club.
Please know what wonderful impression of Meridian was afforded us and others who came here for the event by the fine people involved in the Magnolia Marathon!
