Four-vehicle collision stalls traffic on Highway 39 in Meridian

Traffic on Highway 39 in Meridian stalled to a standstill on both sides following a four-vehicle collision involving a garbage truck, two mid-sized SUVs and a four-door car around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Emergency responders with Metro Ambulance transported four people to the hospital, three from one vehicle that spun across Highway 39 North and South before stopping near The Citizens Bank of Philadelphia.
Sgt. Dareall Thompson, with the Meridian Police Department, said a Waste Management truck hit the back of another vehicle, causing a chain reaction.
Thompson said there were no life-threatening injuries.
