HATTIESBURG — Southern Miss senior running back George Payne has sustained a career-ending injury which will force him to forgo his final season of eligibility.

Payne, who was in his sixth season with the Golden Eagles, suffered multiple injuries during his Southern Miss career and has not seen action since the 2016 campaign.

In 28 career games spanning three different seasons, Payne rushed for 940 yards and nine touchdowns.
