The food deliver app Waitr is a big hit in Meridian since it was launched this week.

The company announced Thursday that the three-day total for this week in Meridian broke the business’s initial launch record for orders. The launch broke the Waitr record set in Jackson last October.

The app lets you order from your favorite local restaurant, then sends a Waitr driver to deliver it to you for a flat fee of $5. As a special introductory promotion for the city – anytime people use the app through Sept. 30, users can get food delivered free by using the promo code “MERIDIAN” at checkout.

More than local restaurants have already signed with Waitr, including Weidmann’s, Harvest Grill, Squealer’s Hickory Smoked Bar-B-Que, Nick and Al’s N.Y. Style Pizzeria, Aie’s Taste of Thai, New’s Restaurant, and Sake Sushi.
