The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s department arrested and charged a Meridian man for possession of child pornography after an investigation initiated by a community tip.

Members of the community reached out the department and investigators began an investigation into Nathan L. Powe, 30, according to Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun.

Powe, who lives in the 5500 block of Omitted Road, has also been charged with methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

“There’s certainly a possibility of future charges,” Calhoun said. “It’s an ongoing investigation.”

Calhoun said that Powe’s bond had been set at $30,000, or $20,000 for the drug possession and $10,000 for the possession of child pornography, and Powe had bonded out.
