East Central Community College’s “Meet the Warriors” is scheduled Monday, Aug. 27 with a new location and format. 

The annual, family friendly pep rally and introduction of student athletes is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on the campus front lawn and the Cross Hall parking lot near Huff Auditorium. The public is invited.

Valley Services, Inc., the college’s food services vendor, will be serving dinner on the mall area just outside Mabry Cafeteria from 4:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. before the start of Meet the Warriors, according to an ECCC news release. The meal, which includes hamburger or hot dog, baked beans, potato salad, cookies, and a drink, will cost $7 per person.

Members of ECCC’s football and men’s and women’s soccer teams will be introduced by their coaches at the pep rally. The Wall O’ Sound Marching Band and color guard, Centralettes dance line, and Warrior cheerleading squad will all perform.

Athletes will be available to autograph posters for the fans after the rally, according to the news release.

In the event of rain, dinner will be available inside Mabry Cafeteria and the Meet the Warriors pep rally will be held in Huff Auditorium.

The football team opens its 2018 season at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30, at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia. The home opener is at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13, against Southwest Mississippi Community College in Bailey Stadium in Decatur.

The men’s and women’s soccer teams will open their seasons Friday, Aug. 24, at Jones County Junior College in Ellisville. The women will play at 5 p.m. and the men at 7 p.m. The teams will open their home seasons on Friday, Aug. 31, when Itawamba Community College visits Decatur for matches at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
