One hundred and forty-nine.

That’s the number of Meridian Community College students who have applied for their degrees and certificates for this end of the academic term. And on Friday, Aug. 3, students will be saluted as MCC hosts its annual summer commencement. The ceremony gets underway at 3 p.m. in the Temple Theater, Downtown Meridian.

Friday’s ceremony is one of three commencements held each school year.

One of the highlights of the ceremony will be the announcement of MCC’s “Circle of Excellence” honorees – students who have distinguished themselves in the classroom and in community service activities. Another highlight will be a vocal performance by Cardarius Moore, music major.

Before the commencement program, MCC will also hold pinning ceremony for its Practical Nursing program at 11 a.m., also in the Temple Theater.
